Award for Excellence in Teaching
Dr. Amy Mattingly
Dr. Amy Mattingly, Coordinator for Elementary Programs in the Professional Education Department, is well known as an excellent teacher. She arrived at Campbell University in the fall of 2017, joining the Professional Education faculty. Her attention to detail and her personal demand for quality endeared her not only to her colleagues but also to her students.
Mattingly expects rigorous work from her students while at the same time demanding an excellent classroom which engages these students. She models the exemplary “professional educator” in every way during her classes. Students are engaged academically, socially, and emotionally through various modalities and engaging activities to support them on their journey towards becoming teachers.
Her high expectations for her students are rewarded with increasingly successful pass rates on state licensure examinations in reading. Mattingly truly is a servant educator and stops at nothing to ensure her students are ready for day one in a classroom.
Mattingly received her Ph.D. from North Carolina State University in Education Policy and Research and her M. Ed. in Language and Literacy and her BS in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Mattingly, her husband, Eric, daughter, Bellamy, and son, Dalton, live in Fuquay- Varina.
