Daniel Maynard
Campbell University Libraries are proud to present to Mr. Daniel “Dan” Maynard the 2020 Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. A member of the library faculty since 1999, Mr. Maynard serves as a liaison for the School of Business in addition to his work with the Sullivan Foundation.
Mr. Maynard has demonstrated through his relentless drive and willingness to adapt to connect with students during the pandemic. His office adapted to both virtual and in-person guidance with students, providing tools and resources for success. Students have provided compliments regarding this attention to detail and guidance, noting that his encouragement and support provided both feedback and wisdom.
Mr. Maynard’s approach to library science has resulted in many compliments from the faculty he services. Adjectives describing his work this year from the many emails received by campus faculty include, “Outstanding, indispensable, and a true demonstration of excellence.” Business faculty have remarked that his contributions to their programs make him a valuable part of the Campbell family.
Mr. Maynard’s work expands beyond business boundaries as we work and support honors students and specialized reference and instructional support. Faculty and staff across the academy champion his virtue and collaborative spirit. Indeed, his colleagues in the library agree as his adaptable nature and flexibility in scheduling provided a backbone of support to the reference and instruction team. It is our pleasure to work and engage with Mr. Maynard, our highly esteemed colleague.
Mr. Maynard holds a Master of Library Science and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He and his wife reside here in Buies Creek, North Carolina.
