School of Education & Human Sciences
I recommend Dr: Terrie Hampton-Jones for the Dean’s Award. She has made an exceptional and incredible contribution as an associate professor during her time at Campbell University.
She has been part of the faculty in Professional Education at Campbell University for seven years. Her efforts have transformed the experiences of many of our teacher education students during these years.
She is always involving her students in opportunities outside of the classroom. For example, she took 15 of her students to Harnett Central High School’s freshman report card conference and she also accompanied Public Health and Pharmacy to Ghana with a Professional Education student.
Hampton-Jones is a very enthusiastic teacher who engages her students. In addition to teaching her education courses, she has served as a CUFS instructor for six consecutive years.
Hampton-Jones has been very actively involved this past year. She judged the Wiggins Memorial Academic Symposium and leads the Community Collaborative Support Center, which is an after school literacy and social-emotional learning program with Dunn, Coats, Buies Creek and Erwin Elementary Schools. Additionally, she served as the researcher and web designer for the Leading the Workforce grant.
Service is a key part of Hampton-Jones’ career, having served as a member of the Faculty learning Committee on Vocation and Calling Cohort. She has also been active in accreditation by serving as an AAQEP assessment review team member at Calvin University.
Hampton-Jones has served the School of Education & Human Sciences for years as the technology coordinator, keeping our classroom technology In working order. She serves as the teacher education student recruiter for the school. She coordinates all the visits to local community colleges as well as leading our Teaching Scholars program.
She is always willing to serve the campus on various panels around her field of expertise. For example, she participates in faculty lightning talks, the Black student government Black history program and has presented to the Education Club on the role of school administrators.
Her skills lie in presenting. She recently presented a campus-wide technology workshop in person and online for the Teaching Resource Center on “How to Integrate Classroom Applications into Instruction.” We are·also proud of her selection as a Fulbright Scholar Specialist.
Dr. Terri Hampton-Jones is the ultimate collaborator. All the School of Education & Human Sciences faculty and staff depend on her on a weekly basis to assist them with everything from technology needs to working on grants. In summary, she is a most deserving candidate for this recognition.
