Dr. Evan Reynolds is the recipient of the 2023 Dean’s Award for Excellence in the College of Arts & Sciences at Campbell University for his outstanding contributions in the areas of service and scholarship.
Dr. Reynolds, an assistant professor of chemistry, earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry with a graduate certificate in Molecular and Cellular Biophysics from the University of North Carolina in 2017. He joined the College of Arts & Sciences faculty in 2017.
Dr. Reynolds is an active servant-leader in his department and across the university including Wiggins Memorial Library Academic Symposium committee, STEM program coordinator, and Ester Howard Scholars program coordinator. He is a member of the Board of Directors and treasurer of the North Carolina Academy of Science. Dr. Reynolds helped bring its annual conference to Campbell University in spring 2022 where he served on the Local Arrangements Committee. Of special note is his leadership role in completing the comprehensive application that resulted in the prestigious accreditation of our Biochemistry programs by the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
Dr. Reynolds is an active scholar with great success in leading student research. He has mentored eight research students in the last five years resulting in 22 presentations, three of which were national and seven were state or regional. Four of these students were Ester Howard Scholars, a competitive summer research program at Campbell University. One student received top honors for poster presentation at the North Carolina Academy of Science conference; two received departmental Edna Queener Proffit research awards. Dr. Reynolds has been awarded several research grants as well.
Dr. Evan Reynolds has made significant contributions in service and scholarship at Campbell University. He is an outstanding example of faculty excellence in the College of Arts & Sciences. I am delighted to present Dr. Reynolds the 2023 Dean’s Award for Excellence.
