CUSOM is committed to selecting applicants who will be an asset to the profession of osteopathic medicine. The goals of the admissions process are to:

- Evaluate the potential for success in the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) Degree Program.
- Assess the candidate‘s commitment and aptitude as a future practicing osteopathic physician.
- Consider the applicant‘s interest in serving rural and underserved populations.
CUSOM Applications Procedure
Individuals interested in applying to the CUSOM must complete an online application through the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine Application Service (AACOMAS) and a CUSOM Supplemental Application. All applicants must complete the AACOMAS application in order to access the CUSOM Supplemental Application.
CUSOM participates in a centralized application service, the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine Application Service (AACOMAS), for the collection of application information. All interested applicants must complete a web-based application. The AACOMAS service collates materials, computes grades and transmits standardized information to the applicant as well as to CUSOM. AACOMAS takes no part in the evaluation, selection or rejection of applicants. Individuals interested in applying to CUSOM should begin the application process by applying to the AACOMAS online application at https://aacomas.aacom.org/. CUSOM Supplemental Application
CUSOM requires all applicants to submit a CUSOM Supplemental Application. Once CUSOM receives the AACOMAS application, qualified applicants will receive an e-mail message providing information and instructions regarding how to complete the Supplemental Application. The e-mail message will include a username and password to access the secure CUSOM Candidate Portal to complete the Supplemental Application and submit the $50 non-refundable application fee. Payment of the $50 application fee is required at the time you submit your application. The CUSOM Supplemental Application is very brief, and CUSOM encourages you to complete it as soon as possible.
The deadline date for submitting the CUSOM Supplemental Application is April 1, 2015.
The secondary application process consists of the CUSOM Secondary Application, a non-refundable processing fee, waiver/non-waiver statement, and two required letters of recommendation. Letters of recommendation may not be written by a relative either by blood or through marriage.
The first letter must be from either an osteopathic physician (D.O.) or an allopathic physician (M.D.). Although a letter from an osteopathic physician is not required, it is strongly recommended. The other letter must be from a premedical advisory committee or science faculty member familiar with the academic work of the applicant.
CUSOM welcomes additional letters of support or recommendation from those who are acquainted with the student’s academic or professional ability. All letters of recommendation must be originals on professional or college/university letterhead, signed by the evaluator and mailed directly to the Office of Admissions.
Applicants are encouraged to complete their applications as early as possible to receive early consideration for an interview. Applicants selected for a personal on-campus interview will be notified in writing from the Office of Admissions. Applicant interviews will be conducted throughout the application cycle. The college uses a rolling admission cycle. As candidates are interviewed, notifications of acceptance are mailed to selected applicants.
